The Door lock can break out of many reasons, like the usage of the door, rust, etc… The life span of the door lock can be easily increased by lubricating it. No matter the type of damage there is on the lock, the way to take it out is always the same.

Thus for the repairs we will need a screwdriver, a pair of pliers and it’s recommended to have a hammer.

Taking out the lock mechanism
First you need to take out the nail or the screw in the door lock.

Then you need to take out the door handles.

Usually you won’t need to remove the sheet metal decoration.

There is a screw on the side of the door, take a long screw and you should be able to unscrew it.

To take out the door lock you need to insert a key, turn it a bit and thus pull the key

Unscrew the screws on the side of the door that are holding the door lock.

After which you can pull out the door lock.

Fixing the latch bolt
If you have issues with the latch bolt, you don’t need to take apart the whole mechanism. Just unscrew the screw on top of the latch bolt. This screw can be easily damaged so if you want you can take the whole mechanism apart.

The latch bolt can be placed in two ways, depending on the way we want our doors to open rotate it by 180 degrees.
Taking apart and repairing the door lock mechanism
There are various types and sizes of door locks, but usually parts from different types of door locks can be combined.

On the inside parts of the mechanism are screws (a total of two), which we unscrew.

After unscrewing we need to remove the ends of rivets. We can remove them with a saw or a file. You can return them back with a hammer.
